I am so proud to be representing Oak Grove Elementary School as the current Teacher of the Year. I have taught Language Arts and social studies here for 18 years. My children both attended this outstanding school, and I am so pleased to still be here as a 4th grade teacher. I graduated from USC with a Bachelors of Arts in Journalism. I then returned to USC to receive my Masters in Elementary Education. I currently have my Masters plus 30 in Elementary Education. I have been teaching for a total of 28 years. I believe that all students possess an inherent desire to learn. It is our responsibility as educators to help them find the spark that is unique to them and their learning style. It is imperative that we identify the strengths of these young children so that they are assured a successful and meaningful education.
I’ve been working at OGE for 10 years. I love being a housekeeper at OGE. I work with the best group of people. I love that I can do my job keep the school clean. I’ve been married for 23 years and love spending time with my family and granddaughter.

Third grade students will learn the SC State Dance, the Shag, in PE and will demonstrate what they have learned. There will then be an opportunity for them to invite their parents to join them shagging! Third grade students will also preform a couple songs about SC and will have their SC artwork on display. Please join us to celebrate our great state and then get some treats. Trunk or Treating is compliments of our fabulous PTA, teachers, and staff as they decorate their trunks and welcome all students and their families to come by for a treat. Play in the bounce houses and eat lots of good food while you’re here!
